FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

10TH annual TEMECULA VALLEY INTERNATIONAL FILM & MUSIC FESTIVAL

Slated for September 8-12,2004 Ready To Roll With New Cinema and Acting Camps for Teens & Call For Entries

Temecula, CA -- Festival Founder and Director Jo Moulton announced the annual “Call For Entries” today along with the launching of a new year-round weekend series of hands-on intensive, filmmaking/music/acting workshops and seminars ‘designed with teens in mind’ slated for the month of May. This official ‘kick-off’ is an early bird jumpstart to the milestone line-up of events to come for the Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival’s (TVIFMF) tenth anniversary celebration, September 8-12, 2004. Held annually at the Movie Experience 10 at Tower Plaza (25735 Ynez Road) in Temecula, the five-day event includes continuous Film Screenings in six theaters, Music Performances by bands and individual performers and Film & Music industry related workshops, respectively. But the new addition of the Cinema Camp enables TVIFMF to open its doors with never-before-offered opportunities to young filmmakers and artists ages 13-17.

“The festival believes top quality education in filmmaking should be accessible to anyone with the desire and ambition to make films. These workshops and seminars will provide opportunities for young people with little or no experience, to learn the elements of filmmaking, the collaborative process of writing, producing, directing and acting, in a hands-on intensive working environment from award-winning seasoned professionals of film and television,” Moulton announced. The advent of lower priced technology has enabled people to make films on their computers so that directors whose age is in the single digits are no longer uncommon. However, “for anyone wanting to pursue a career in filmmaking, a professional quality produced short film is the best example an aspiring filmmaker can show of his or her talent portfolio. The festival is proud to be able to provide professional, high quality personalized and individualized training opportunity and breeding ground for future Temecula Valley area directors, screenwriters, actors and producers,” Moulton added.

In teaming up with Hollywood based DJS Academy of Converging Arts, whose founder Daniele J. Suissa is an internationally renowned theater and film Director/Writer/Producer, Temecula Valley residents will be able to benefit from decades of professional filmmaking experience at a truly affordable price set especially for the Festival. The 2004 TEENS ACT OUT program is a series of one day workshops over two weekends. Under the direction of Suissa, Writer/Producer Gabrielle Kelly and Teen Workshop Specialist, Brian Donovan, participants will write, act, direct and walk away with a tape of their performance. They will discover the magic of Storytelling and, more importantly, the experience of having created a piece of work, with their peers, in their own voice and the opportunity to be cast in the Cinema Camp Films.

CINEMA CAMP is a three weekend program running with participants who are assigned a variety of productions roles and will produce one or more High Definition short films. Classes for Cinema Camp will include: Screenwriting, Directing, Cinematography, Visual Arts, Production Design, Music and Editing. Each student will receive a DVD of the film (or films) to which they have participated. At the end of Cinema Camp each student will receive a Certificate of Completion noting the area of specialization, if any, plus a CD of the short film (s) will be entered into the Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival in September. Registration is limited. First workshop is scheduled for May. For registration, schedule and fees information,

call (909) 699-8681.

TVIFMF is now accepting entries in the areas of feature films, short films, animated films, student work and documentaries from around the globe representative of new and emerging styles of cinema. Already on tap for 2004 are several showcases including the American Film Institute (AFI )Film Showcase featuring the Best of 2004 AFI student film produced and directed films, San Diego State University Film Series and sister festival, Rome International Film Festival (RIFF) Film Showcase will highlight the event featuring its best films.
